In 2001, Romania launched its first promotional campaign at international level with the declared scope of improving its image abroad and attracting foreign tourists.

We are referring to „Romania, simply surprising”, a TV broadcasted campaign and outdoor displays, produced by Ogily&Mathers Romania. The campaign was severely criticized due to its high cost (around $20 million) and to its connections with PSD government, although it enjoyed a correct media planning: it was broadcasted on European TV stations, during vacation period.
